About
After years of watching my husband pull long shifts at the firehouse and come home to care for our kids on his days off, I knew it was time for me to step up and contribute more to our family’s finances. In 2018, I began my online teaching journey with VIPKid, helping children in China learn English as a second language. I loved the work—but between the 4 a.m. alarms and the unpredictability of bookings, I knew it wasn’t quite the right fit long-term.
Then in 2020, I discovered Outschool—and everything changed. I instantly fell in love. It was everything I enjoyed about teaching (connection, creativity, fun!) without the red tape and endless paperwork of my brick-and-mortar classroom job. I found myself building relationships with learners and loving every minute of it. Outschool has been a major part of my life for the past six years. It reignited my passion for teaching and even inspired a big shift: I moved from teaching 5th grade to working in primary special education.

But as my classes filled up and requests for tutoring and small group sessions kept rolling in, I hit a limit—I simply didn’t have enough time in the day to meet the growing demand.
That’s when the idea of starting an organization took shape. I knew I had high-quality content that students and families loved, but I wondered: could I find others who would teach it with the same energy, heart, and effectiveness?
As it turns out, I didn’t have to look far. Over dinner one night, I mentioned the idea to some of my fellow educators, and to my surprise, they were in! These are teachers I’ve worked with for years—people I’ve seen build strong relationships with students while delivering truly effective instruction.
And just like that, Effective Effort with Elizabeth, LLC was born.
We’re here to offer the same meaningful, engaging, and effective instruction—now with even more flexibility and availability for the families we serve. I’m so excited to continue this journey, and even more thrilled to do it alongside such a talented team of educators.
FAQ's
Where are the classes taught?
All classes are taught online via Zoom through the Outschool platform.
Are your classes taught by real teachers?
Yes! All of our teachers are licensed (or retired) educators.
How big are the classes?
We cap class sizes at 6 students to ensure everyone gets plenty of attention and support.
Is there homework?
We don’t assign or collect homework, but we do provide optional practice activities in our academic courses to help reinforce learning at home.
Does my learner need to start from the beginning and attend every class?
Not at all! Each session covers a specific topic (listed in the class description), so you can start anytime or attend only the sessions that meet your learner’s needs.
If we find that your learner needs extra support or a stronger foundation, we’ll work with you to place them in a class that’s a better fit.

Many families ask for the materials we use in class. Our Teachers Pay Teachers store includes both in-class resources and other high-quality instructional materials to help you instruct your child on your own. We’re always adding more!
What if I don’t have time for live classes but don’t feel confident teaching my child on my own?
Our self-paced courses are a great option! They include all necessary materials and pre-recorded lessons—perfect for flexible learning at your own pace. This section of our offerings is also growing
